Kayaking on Canandaigua Lake

Canandaigua Sailboards

15% off hourly kayak and paddleboard rentals

I have personally used Canandaigua Sailboards and had such a great experience it is what prompted me to invest in my own kayak! It's easily accessible right at the tip of the lake in Kershaw Park with plenty of places to grab food or drinks before or after your ride!

CMOG is truly fun for the whole family! There are many live glass blowing demonstrations and no shortage of art to see throughout the museum! Corning is definitely worth the day trip from Rochester. Come hungry, some of my favorite restaurants in the region are in Corning!

Finger Lakes Boating Museum

Finger Lakes Boating Museum

Good for Group Rate entry to the museum of $8/person

I've never met people as passionate about their work as the people who work at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum. Located on the former Taylor Winery campus the property is filled with local art and history! While not on this list for discounted admission, if you go down to Hammondsport to visit the Boating Museum, be sure to also check out the Glenn Curtiss Museum.

There is no wrong time to visit the Eastman Museum. In the summer the gardens are filled with beautiful flowers, at Christmas Time the home is decorated and is filled with community decorated gingerbread houses, in February for Dutch Connection there are tulips throughout the mansion! While those are 3 of my favorite times to visit, you can't go wrong with the time of year! Come hungry! Inside the museum, "Open Face" is one of my favorite local restaurants. You do not need to pay admission if you are just visiting the restaurant

Fountain at Mount Hope Cemetery

Mount Hope Cemetery Tours

One free adult admission to any general or theme tour (Not valid for special events: Voices from the Beyond and We’ve Hauled Some Barges in Our Day).

When I share all my nerdy facts I know about Rochester, a LOT of them I learned through tours at Mount Hope Cemetery! Cemetery tours aren't necessarily ghost tours, although I have been on ghost tours at Mount Hope as well. Think of it as a historical information tour. While it is a cemetery, Mount Hope was actually designed to be like a park to encourage visitation! Also, fun fact, there are more people buried in Mount Hope Cemetery than currently living in the City of Rochester.

Historical Sign commemorating Susan B. Anthony in front of her house, "Susan B. Anthony outstanding leader in Women's Rights Movement made her home here with her sister Mary 1866 - 1906"

National Susan B. Anthony House

Two free admissions from March through December and four free admissions during January and February.

I didn't visit the Susan B. Anthony House for the first time until I was like 19 or 20 and honestly, if there is ONE THING I wish I didn't wait so long to do in Rochester, it's visit her home. It is so empowering hearing her story, seeing the room she was arrested in, it is definitely a special place in Rochester for sure. I'm assuming if you live in Rochester, you know who she is, but in the event you don't, she was a huge suffragette advocating for women's rights here in Rochester!

To the left is a picture of me with my "I Voted" sticker, I was able to vote early at her home in the 2024 election.

New York Museum of Transportation

Buy one admission, get one of equal or lesser value free. Limit one admission per visit. Not valid for special events with special admission prices.

Pirate Ship inside the "Wonders of Water" Exhibit inside the Rochester Museum & Science Center

The RMSC truly is the "ROCHESTER MUSEUM and Science Center" so many of the exhibits focus on our home, right here! The Wonders of Water exhibit looks at our ecosystems in our backyard, there's depictions of what the land looked like thousands of years ago, if you want to learn more about the history of your community, RMSC is a great spot for all ages to visit!

Bonus tip: try to plan your visit around the Electricity Theater show times. It is included in your admission and is such a unique experience!

Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra

Outside at the Seward House Museum

Seward House Museum

If you remember learning about "Seward's Folly" the purchasing of Alaska, it was done by William Henry Seward who was from Auburn, NY!

Not necessarily a bonus tip but keep your eyes out for a painting of Letchworth State Park in the home!

Historical Sign at Sonnenberg Gardens, "Sonnenberg Gardens has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 by the United States Department of the Interior"

Definitely a beautiful place to visit especially in the spring and summer with all the flowers blooming! Make sure your phone is fully charged, you are going to want to take a ton of pictures of and in the gardens while you are there!
