Autumn doesn’t feel like autumn in my family without a trip to Letchworth State Park. There are SO many beautiful places to visit at Letchworth, but my favorite photo spot is “Inspiration Point” (where you could get a picture like the one above!). And it is a must-stop with my dad to have lunch at the “Glen Iris Inn” inside the park. As he says, “It’s always a treat”! The Glen Iris Inn is open for the season May - October.

And, if you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, make sure you explore the Autism Nature Trail. This thoughtfully designed trail offers a sensory-rich experience, with eight stations that invite visitors to explore, learn, and connect with nature in a calm and supportive environment. From the gentle hum of the butterfly garden to the soothing sounds of the music circle, every step along the trail reminds us of the park's commitment to inclusivity and the joy of nature. It's the perfect spot for a family outing or a peaceful solo adventure and a shining example of how nature can be accessible and enjoyable for all.

If we're being honest, I have not hiked a lot in Letchworth... it is SUCH a big park that by the time you get to the park from Rochester, and drive down to the waterfalls, it's an easy 25-30 minute drive just IN the park! There are so many lookout points you definitely do not need to hike to see beautiful views.
